The long wait for the new Land Rover Discovery is almost over, with the fifth generation being launched at this year’s Paris Motor Show in September. With lots of spy shots and hints being dropped about the new version, we had a good idea of how it would look. And the luxurious SUV is set to be even more impressive than before, with a better finish representing the “ultimate luxury” pillar of Land Rovers new three-tier “ultimate structure” (the other two being the ‘ultimate sporting performance’ and ‘ultimate off-road ability’).
Like previous Discovery models we can see some recognisable features, like the overhanging hood with the noticeable model name. With a wider stance and lower scuff plate, it has much more road presence. And the new LED headlights feature which are expected to be present on all new Land Rovers. Inside, new seat technology allows you to change the seats layout from anywhere using the InControl Remote smartphone app, so you can configure the layout before you reach the car making it suitable for either passengers or luggage, as demonstrated by Bear Grylls below:
Once again the new Land Rover Discovery is expected to push the boundaries off-road, with all the 4x4 technology you’d expect to ensure it remains unmatched in the SUV market. New JLR range engines with the latest four-cylinder Ingenium units from Land Rover are expected, along with more powerful V6 engines. And eventually, even a Hybrid version is expected.
