New cars often pick up awards and since its launch the KIA EV6 has received plenty. However, it is not very often that a car is recognised as one of the best inventions of the year by a publication as influential as TIME Magazine.

The KIA EV6 GT has secured a place on the prestigious role of honour that is the TIME Best Inventions of 2023 in the Transportation category. The annual list has now been in existence for over two decades and features 200 extraordinary innovations, across a range of sub categories, which TIME editors have identified as new products and ideas which are “changing our lives.”

Other groundbreaking inventions featured on the list include world’s most powerful supercomputer, and game-changing innovations in health, mobility, entertainment, green energy and many other fields. TIME says the innovations have the potential to change how we live, work, play, and think about what’s possible, which is a good way to describe the KIA EV6 GT.

The TIME editors evaluate each contender on a number of key factors, including originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact. They were hugely impressed by how the all electric EV6 looked and performed so differently from other electric vehicles.

With its sophisticated design, outstanding range, spacious and innovative interior and hugely impressive performance, the EV6 GT has certainly made its mark on the global stage, not least in Ireland, where it has been in high demand and received huge praise from drivers and motoring observers.

KIA was also the only automotive company in the U.S. named on the 2023 TIME100 List of Most Influential Companies, while the EV6 GT won the title of World Performance Car of the Year 2023 at the World Car Awards.

Recognition of not only being one of the world’s best cars, but also one of the world’s most innovative inventions of the year, is quite an achievement and shows how the EV6 has redefined expectations in the electric vehicle market.
